Sports Medicine

Our certified athletic trainers are highly trained professionals with extensive educational and experiential backgrounds. They are certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and licensed by the State of Connecticut.
Our trainers are on-site every day for practices and games. As part of their services, they offer recognition, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries and referral to a physician if needed. In addition, our trainers are responsible for the ongoing management of our ImPACT concussion testing program.

ImPACT Concussion Testing
The athletic department utilizes ImPACT concussion testing of our student-athletes to provide a baseline measurement that aids in the diagnosis and management of sports-related concussions.
ImPACT (Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing) is the most widely used and most scientifically validated computerized concussion evaluation system. The test provides computerized neurocognitive assessment tools that are used by doctors, athletic trainers and other licensed health care professionals to assist them in determining an athlete’s ability to return to play after suffering a concussion.
KO has a relationship with Elite Sports Medicine, located in Farmington, Conn. Elite Sports Medicine is the home of Connecticut’s premier sports-related concussion program. Our affiliation with Elite Sports Medicine allows its concussion experts, with family permission, to access our ImPACT testing database to more quickly aid in diagnosis and post-concussion management. Families are welcome, of course, to use their own physician and are not required to use the services of an Elite Sports Medicine professional. To learn more about Elite Sports Medicine, please click
